Sew-Along News

First of all, I want to thank everyone who took part in the Scrappy Stars Sew-Along. It's been so much fun seeing all the different blocks showing up all around blogland. This is the last month I'll be reminding you about making your two scrappy star blocks though, because it's time for a new sew-along! I searched high and low to find a new quilt for us to make together. I saw lots of blocks that I loved, but many were stars and many had nine patch blocks in them or HSTs, all of which we had just done. Then I came across this little beauty on the Moda Bake Shop. It's called Wiggly Whimsy and you can find the pattern HERE. Originally I planned to use scrappy squares for the colored blocks, but I had a charm pack just begging to be made into something, so that's what I'll be using. As much as I love scrappy quilts, it will be nice to do something non-scrappy for a change! :0)

So if you're interested in sewing along with us again, just click HERE to go to the pattern. Print it out and start gathering your fabric. I've changed things around a bit this time, and all we'll be doing for January is cutting our fabric. We won't start sewing on this one until February. Then we'll make enough blocks for one row each month, and in September we'll be able to put our quilts together. Sound like a plan? And remember if you'll be sewing along let me know, and I'll add your name to a new list on my sidebar! Also, if you'd like to add the sew-along button from my sidebar to your blog, feel free to do so. You can link back to me or to the quilt pattern itself. Thanks so much and Happy New Year everyone! :0)

EDITED: I forgot to mention that for the background fabric, if you don't want to use a jelly roll, you'll need 3 yards of fabric. I'm going to buy 3-1/4 just in case I mess up! LOL

I'm in for sure :) I want to finish my scrappy stars (I think I have 10 made), so I'll keep at that as well! I want mine a bit bigger. Now to decide whether to use a charm pack or scraps...hmmm....

Well, i have a jelly roll in ecru and I have enough charm packs to choose from, so I'm in. I know I shouldn't start a new project, but I have the fabric in my stash, so what should stop me!
I look forward to mixing those small print squares (:
Thank you for organizing this!

Yes yes! I'm gonna join to Sew-Along with ya. I may decide to sew two at the same time. (One to keep & one to donate).
I'll be cutting stash to use for background so I just need to purchase two different charm packs for this project.
Thanks a bunch for doing this again
;-)

I went and checked out the pattern and oh is this cute! I think I may have a little fabric hanging around that would be great for this... oh who am I kidding...I got fabric coming out of my ears and this would be fun to do. Now here's hoping I can keep up.

What a fun quilt! I'll have to see what fabric I might be able to pull together before committing to the sew along. I sure enjoyed the stars project!

I remember seeing this. I think it is so clean and crisp and easy but doesn't look simple! I really like it!

My 'creative wheels' are turning....we'll see what's in my stash!

Yes, please include me. I must, must, must use up my hoarded scraps. Between this idea and finishing up the Scrappy Stars, I should make a good dent.
